the service

For us Canucks, patience is definitely a virtue. The company is based out of Seattle, Washington which is great for cross-border shopping. (If I lived in the Vancouver, BC area a trip to a Julep Parlor would be on my bucket list!) However, the Maven beauty boxes — like anything (or anyone!) else coming into Canada — need to clear Customs first. Expect delivery to take approximately two weeks. FYIonce your order has cleared Customs, use the USPS tracking# on the Canada Post website to continue watching the journey your box takes.

Worried about duties and taxes? You shouldn’t be. There are no duties or taxes on these shipments (three cheers for NAFTA!). Click here to learn why that is.

the products

GLYCOLIC HAND SCRUB | Reg. price: $23.00, Maven price: $18.40

A facial for your hands. The hand scrub (featuring glycolic acid and apricot seeds) helps to remove dirt and oil, so that your hands become softer and look younger.

NAIL POLISHES | Reg. price: $14.00 each, Maven price: $11.20

Lena is a teal polish with a very subtle gold shimmer and Stefani is a gold flecked grey metallic polish. You can see my swatches of Lena in this post.

the verdict

  • The nail polishes are fast drying and apply smoothly. I feel that one coat is often enough.
  • The hand scrub is to die for! My dry hands have never felt softer. I will certainly consider re-purchasing this product when my tube is empty.
  • If all the items had been purchased separately at the Maven price, the actual box cost would be $46.40 USD. So the $19.99 box price is a good bargain.

I have heard such great things about this hand scrub! I’m so glad you loved it too. It’s so expensive on its own it almost makes me want to buy another intro box just to try (I’ve been subbed for a few months.) Lena is so pretty! I can’t wait to see what the July polishes will be 🙂

OMG. You need to try the scrub! After one use (with lotion applied afterwards) my hands were unbelievably soft.So much better than just using hand cream alone.

Good idea. I may order the Modern Beauty intro box at some point (or maybe one of the available Maven boxes from March) because I want to try the Rock Star hand cream.

My first regular Maven box arrived today. I can’t to wait to try out the new polish colours and DD cream! 🙂

I am very curious to see what you think of the DD cream. If you are unhappy they seem to be refunding 2000 jules (half what you need to get a free box) so keep that in mind and call customer service 🙂

Argh want the hand scrub so bad now haha.

Yeah, I was reading all the facebook comments yesterday. The DD cream is not much of a hit. I haven’t tried it yet, but did take it out of the box and the container does appear to be more air than product. 🙁

Hey Zoe! I’m so behind on my reviews. I just posted my thoughts on the DD cream and my June box today. Make sure to check it out! I’d to hear your thoughts.
